Digital at the Service of Humankind
The Digital and Citizenship research and teaching chair embodies a unique collaboration between Isep and the “Religion, Culture and Society” research unit of the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP). By combining humanities expertise and digital skills, this chair’s mission is to promote a responsible, ethical and inclusive digital world, truly at the service of humanity.
Objectives and Missions
The Digital and Citizenship Chair conducts research into the major societal challenges posed by digital technologies. Based on a humanist vision of the digital world, our work focuses on four complementary dimensions:
- Research: exploring innovative avenues for ethical digital citizenship.
- Education: training engineers who are aware of the social and moral implications of their profession.
- Knowledge transfer: disseminate research findings to academic and professional communities.
- Partnerships: establish collaborations with academic and industrial players to meet contemporary challenges.
Research areas
Law and Artificial Intelligence
What impact is artificial intelligence having on legal practices? From intellectual property to personal data management, the Chair studies the legal implications of AI for ethical use that protects individual rights.
Ethics, Freedom and Judgment
How can we ensure that, in the digital age, human beings remain masters of their own choices? The Chair explores questions of ethics and freedom in the face of technological advances, and questions the place of the human being in the face of the concepts of transhumanism and AI.
Digital, Knowledge and Philosophy
Do digital transformations call for a renewal of our conception of knowledge? Our research aims to develop a language and concepts that will enable us to better understand the epistemological rupture induced by digital technology.
Education and pedagogy
Digital technology is reinventing educational models: how can we promote critical thinking and creativity? The Chair proposes new ways of combining academic authority and active learner participation.
